1. Presenters must be prepared to attend the conference and to make their presentations in person.

We are excited to welcome you back to an in-person conference! At the same time, we are continuing to explore together with Congress options for a hybrid format for Special Events.

  2. Presentations can be made in either English or French.
  3. Papers for the Conference – Deadline: May 23, 2023
    • Papers should be SINGLE SPACED, not exceeding the word count of 12,000 and should not have been previously published.
    • Complete your paper and email it to the relevant section head and the chair, discussant and participants in your session by May 23, 2023. E-mail addresses will be available in the on-line programme (click on the names in your session description to access their e-mail addresses).
    • Authors are reminded to include a note on their on-line paper indicating that their paper not be cited without permission from the author.
    • Failure to comply with the above mentioned deadline can result in the chair excluding the presentation from the session.
    • Further, discussants will be under no obligation to comment on the papers if they are not given a reasonable amount of time to read them. Such an action would be a loss to all attending the session.
  4. Discussing or Charing a Panel
Presenters will be considered as possible chairs or discussants. Given that a successful conference depends on having, not only paper-givers, but chairs and discussants, the CPSA strongly encourages participants to pro-actively offer their services in either/both of these roles to any of our 16 section heads and/or be willing if a request is made.
  5. Grants: CPSA Travel Grants - Deadline: February 15, 2023
  6. Congress Graduate Merit Award (CGMA)

This award was created in 2019 by the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences to help facilitate the participation of graduate students in Congress activities.

The terms, prize amount and eligibility of this award will be announced and posted here by the end of September 2022.
  7. CPSA Membership Fees
    • For accepted presentations by single authors or multiple authors, each author must be a member in good standing of the CPSA by March 31, 2023 whether s/he is attending the conference or not, or see their name removed from the programme.
    • For more information and exemptions read the Membership Guidelines [ download pdf ↓ ].
    • The CPSA Secretariat will contact non-members regarding their membership status prior to the above deadline.
    • Chairpersons, discussants and roundtable participants are not required to be members but are warmly invited to join.
